There’s some lovely sounds to hear, but it’s also about getting the most out of the way that you listen.

A musician's guide to mindful listening

With cellist Becky Knight

Exploring our relationship to sound, and how to get the most of the way that we listen.

Giving you new ways to follow musical detail, opening up the emotion and ideas communicated, hearing from composers, and finding connections between music and sounds we find in the natural world.

The first series will include music by J.S. Bach, Andrzej Panufnik, Judith Weir, David Knotts and Philip Glass, with playing by members of the Lawson Trio.

Curious About Me?

I work as a cellist with orchestras in London, and with my chamber group, the Lawson Trio. As well as classical, you can hear me with Hidden Orchestra (Joe Acheson's amazing electronica projects - on tracks like One and One) and even playing all the string parts on Charli XCX's House track for Wuthering Heights.

Starting to practice mindfulness in 2018 changed the way I listen to music and the world around me, so this podcast is a way of sharing that.
